This Is For Those Who Have Come Through The Neuro Pad Brain Surgery. How Was Your Recovery Process? And Results? And Recommendations?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

One Neuro that I have seen has suggested having the Neuro Pad brain surgery treatment. I have already had 2 brain surgeries done to the L temporal lobe (11 & 12 years ago), and still don't have seizure control. The seizure type & strength have changed, but I still have to exercise caution when I go in to do my work as an Occupational Therapist. I'm scheduled to go in for the 5 day video EEG this weekend, and I'm really not looking forward to it. If this is the recommended treatment, I'm very… read more

Charlene, I just came through the 3 day video EEG. My new Neuro indicated that 3 short seizures did take place, but so much of what I have been experiencing is due to negative side effects to Briviact. (This includes causing the more frequent seizures). She gave instructions on reducing the dosage in order to get off of it. I have an appointment to see her in September, but will do follow-up care with another Neuro until that date. Yes, Pseudo Seizures were noted, but she indicated that the Briviact may be one of the causative factors. She also indicated that further surgery is not needed! PTL! I have learned to recognize external causative problems (e.g. being near a strobe light, or too close to external electrical stimulation - even from the computer). What made such a difference was that she actually listened to me!! I have so much more peace now... Thank you for listening and replying... Maire'

Charlene, I know that first 2 surgeries did really help... but I don't know why I have so much less peace about proceeding with another surgery. I've contacted a group that does specialize in the NeuroPad surgery (for more info), and really hope to hear from them soon. I'm going in for the 5 day video EEG tomorrow. I cancelled my patient care treatments today because of the fatigue I'm feeling after having some nocturnal seizures last night.... I think that I'm going to let the Great Shepherd carry me through! He alone knows what is best for me. Shalom. Maire'
