Fort Worth, TX

Hello everyone, I'm new to this community. My bf has epilepsy something we live with daily. However, he doesn't have insurance and he's ran out of his medication months ago. So now his seizures are getting worse and more frequent. Almost daily at this point. He can't afford his doctor or the meds. Can anyone point us into the direction of an affordable and/or free clinic and medication options? We love in the Fort Worth, TX area. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Our Epilepsy Foundation is there to help us & wants to make sure we get our meds. I’m not working right now & don’t have any insurance & the Epilepsy Foundation is helping me get my Depakote & luckily my regular Neurologist volunteers with the Epilepsy Foundation so I still get to keep the same Neurologist. The Epilepsy Foundation charged me $25 dollars for my check-up phone visit recently with my Neurologist. So you can call your local Epilepsy Foundation & let them know about your boyfriend’s issue & ask if they can help. Also, here around the Austin area there’s a clinic called Lone Star Circle of Care & they offer different types of doctors like family doctors, dentist, Behavioral Mental Health & Vision. I don’t know if they have those clinics in Fort Worth but it’s worth looking into if he needs one of those doctors because they help people with or without insurance & you can meet with a Financial Advisor to where he might apply on there sliding fee scale. I’ll try to Google & see if that clinic is available in your area. But reach out to your local Epilepsy Foundation & you can find that at www.epilepsy.com . Your friend in Austin, Becky

Have you looked into GoodRx? It's an app and they have a website. It gives fairly deep discounts on most medications, and is dependent on which pharmacy you use. It's free, and worth checking out. It saved me literally hundreds of dollars each month on my Keppra when I was out of work.
