How Can I Reduce My Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've asked my question myself and is too "lazy" to search it up. What could I do to reduce my seizures some examples like sleeping, eating more? I have Jeavons syndrome and am wondering what could be a perfect diet. And just what I can do to reduce the seizures. Thank you for your response😊

it is a tricky thing... because we all have our own triggers. personally stress does not cause me to have seizures... food does. that is why i am on the keto diet. i also am a hippie/voodoo guy and take cbd oil (marijuana without the high) and a boatload of vitamins. but i walk for an hour or less (if it is not cold outside) and work with kids (daycare center). i thought Jeavons was a type of idiopathic seizure (a idk the cause seizure)? i had idiopathic partials until i found out it is food related. my advice is go on a short walk... get a plan diet like the paleo diet, the keto diet, the atkins diet, the south beach diet, the mediterranean diet... anything that has a high fat diet count. look into cbd or cbd/thc (marijuana). and if stress is a trigger... do yoga or meditation to release your bad juju.

Less stress is a major aid. Getting at least 6 hours sleep per night. Trying your very best to keep a positive attitude (to keep away depression) and more importantly find fun things to do to take your mind off of seizures. There are specific diets that can do wonders for some people. A friend of mine, who had seizures since he was a little child, was put on such a diet when he was young, and he has never had a seizure since (and is on no medications). Different things work for different people, but a major key is keeping your stress level to a low enough level while also not dwelling on seizures and allowing them to hamper most of your life.
