I was a normal child before I got meningitis and developed epilepsy from it, I've experienced one too many seizures that have scared myself and my family alot, even though it's been a year that I've been seizure free, im still worried for the next, I don't wanna have this problem, I feel like there is something wrong with me, I've had confused moments where I have a panic attack thinking I'm about to slip into a seizure and I don't, this whole thing just worries me and idk how to just make… read more

When I was a year seizure free I sent papers to motor vehicles and they said I could drive (I bought a car that day) 😃). I know now that I was severely depressed. I also know that some mood elevating medications lower the seizure threshold. After a year seizure free I feel like I’ve got my life back. I don’t know how long it will last but I’ll take what I can get.
It’s so difficult and very few people understand it. I wish you only the best.

I get it. Epilepsy can be scary, living with it, even more. I work with people everyday and have found there are basically 3 things we have control of. Mindset (how we choose to think about things) Action (what we do with what we think) and Outcome: How our choice to develop a healthy mindset, influences our behaviors and subsequently, our outcome. You are fortunate in that you have had a life without seizures. Therefore a YOU who knows your gifts and potential (a healthy mindset) Then seizures entered your life which of course influences what you think, actions and outcome . If you were my client I would suggest you start with what was working BEFORE, the real you. See who you are, what you believe, what brings passion to your life and how you lived pre-epilepsy. I have had epilepsy most of my life and know everything that comes with the territory. Fear is real, yet, another way to look at it is to use it to your advantage. What I mean by that is you are an awesome person and the only one who can make a difference in this world...the way you can. One of the reasons fear is there is to try and protect you from the unknown Writing in this space tells me you are in this process and it is a process coming to the reality that life is different- but that has nothing to do with the person that you are. Accepting this, is huge and I am willing to bet that going through this is part of your journey to finding out a whole new you that could only be made possible by going through what is before you now. As strange as it may sound, you are in a good place. Now it is about connecting to the right people who will take you to a new level in your journey where you will thrive! Mindset-Action-Outcome. A question I have for you is where would you like to see yourself in 1 year...6 months..3 months...tomorrow? Just something to think about.
Best, Ron
