Does Anyone Know If There's Any Sort Of Assistance For Someone Who Needs To Move To A State With Legal Marijuana?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm 21 years old and live in NC. I've been on a list of seizure meds all of which cause my seizures to increase in frequency, length and intensity. I have no health coverage whatsoever, I can't get referred to an epilepsy center due to this because no neurologist wants to see someone with no income or coverage. I know once I get on the right dosage I'll be able to work again because I've had the concentrates for epilepsy a few times and felt like an entirely new person for like 2 weeks. No… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , When you contact your local Epilepsy Foundation you could also bring up the issue about applying for disability & see if they have any suggestions & if they have a law firm they work with for y’all to get help with applying for disability & you’d get a caseworker to help you with your case. Our local Epilepsy Foundation directed me to a law firm they work with & I have a caseworker. I’ve done the paperwork & the mental exam & evaluation & the physical exam & am now waiting on a decision. I keep my caseworker updated on things like my medicine, etc. Another team member who lives in San Antonio directed me to ask our Epilepsy Foundation about applying for disability cause he said they directed him to a certain law firm. In the past I called Social Security & they’d say since I could work I wasn’t eligible but now on top of other things I’ve been dealing with verbal tics for over a year now & the lady who did my mental exam & evaluation said she thinks I would qualify for disability but that she doesn’t make that decision, Social Security does. So it wouldn’t hurt asking your local Epilepsy Foundation for help applying for disability & telling them you’ve been turned down & see what they can recommend. Good luck. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I would recommend to go to Google & type in your city & state & then beside that type Epilepsy Foundation or you could type in the words Epilepsy Foundation in.....& then type in your city & state. Then hopefully it will bring up a close Epilepsy Foundation near you. For example, we have an Epilepsy Foundation office here in Austin but the main office is in San Antonio & so I prefer to correspond with the people there, basically the director there is who I talk to & Friday she’s having a lady from our Austin location talk to me about getting signed up for their program & I’m supposed to also visit with my Neurologist. If nothing else, you might find links to your area on the Epilepsy Foundation’s website. But the quickest way I bet is to go to Google & “Epilepsy Foundation in...,...” & then type in your city & state. Hope this helps. Your friend in Texas, Becky

I would not trust legal Cannabis or Cannabis oil from a store, because you do not know a dosage. The Epidiolex I take is a specialty medication, but I know how much I am getting. It is CBD Oil without any THC.

When the government say you can work because of your work history before your diagnosis and then you go back to work and have a seizure on the job that is a lawsuit against the government. What would happen if you hurt others very badly while in a seizure. That job would also be liable for hiring you.So get you a lawyer and apply for Disability before applying again.Let the lawyer do the work for you.The lawyer can only take 1/4 of your back pay.And in some states You get Bot Social Security and State Disability checks.
