Seizures Away From Home
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Thinking of this festive time, do you have more seizures when you are away from home? do you feel more safe with your epilepsy at home?

Feel much safer at home or with family as they understand my seizures and know how to deal with them. When I have them in public or at work I end up in an Ambulance and at Hospital Emergency but I can’t blame the public or my workplace as they have my and other people’s safety in mind.

Just make sure you are well covered with a medic alert bracelet and St John's Ambulance membership. Most people around the city are helpful. Or, if you need it ,have a push button connection to the ambulance to get help.

I'm Sorry Your Husband has passed away. Since neither of Your children are living with You it sounds like You have done a great job to help and protect Yourself. One other idea for You, have You ever considered getting a seizure alert dog? Do a little research on them and learn how one would be able to help You. A few pieces of information I know about them: they are black Labrador Retrievers, very friendly, smart, loyal, etc. They also are/become good friends, and add a feeling of safety to those who own one. If You become interested there is a documentary about them or contact the Epilepsy Foundation. Good Luck!
