Depression And Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve had epilepsy a long time but have had two seizures in a short period of time despite being seizure free over two years. After these seizures I have not felt myself and can’t seem to get myself out of the slump I seem to find myself in.

Does anybody have any advice/pointers in how they’ve gotten back to their normal selves?

I’ve never felt like this before and can’t seem to shake the clouds looming overhead.

Thanks

Jodie I would recommend several options. First would be to talk to a neurologist. Second I don't what health insurance you have that might need referrals but I would I talk if doctor also. You might need to mention about a psychologist.. Third would be your pastor .
Good luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Is something bothering you lately?
I have had staring seizures also. I know how u feel Jodie

Give yourself a pep talk, you went 2 years seizure free! Try to pin point whar caused the seizures and if you can't don't sweat it.

Do some self care activity. Sometimes after a long night of seizures, I'll order out and do a face mask or something. Even though im exhausted something little to brighten my mood

For me after brain surgery and totally eliminated all partial complex seizures I had a grand mal 6 months later. Both physically and emotionally I was devastated.
It took me a good month to except the fact I still had Epilepsy . Try not to be so hard on yourself. With me my Epitologist did a med switch . Most of the issues I had were emotional. Give yourself a bit of time. Try not to be so hard on yourself.
Hugs and we are here. Wendy
