Changes In UK Benefit System
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone in the UK had problems and difficulty filling in forms and the changes from the old DLA benefit system to the new PIP system? Me and my wife (who is my carer) are finding it very frustrating and it is not helping my epilepsy!

This is Memorial Day weekend. Let's remember all the men and women that satisfied their lives that died for this country. They died for all of us to have freedom, to enjoy our day-to-day lives. Ever who reads this and who has or is serving our Country, I want to THANK YOU FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY AND KEEPING US SAFE. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

I finally got my form filled in and returned. I then received a letter asking where the form was. I telephoned the number on the front and spoke to a man at the DWP. I was told that due to the amount of mistakes they’ve made moving people from DLA to PIP they are having to work things out in 3 lots. Each lot has hundreds of people included. They said that they did receive my form but it wouldn’t even be looked at for months as I was in lot 2!!! Chances are that monies owed won’t be paid out until very late this year and next year!

Darryl, they just require a copy of your bank statement that includes the end date on the front of the form that they have asked you for. So, if you get in touch with your bank, it’ll only be one month’s statement that is required.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I changed from DLA to PIP 4 years ago and i have enhanced rate for both mobility and daily living.
The forms are a little awkward so give them a call if you're confused. Make sure you give as much info as you can. Good luck.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member,
I am in Canada and here Epilepsy is considered physical
The Encphlitis that I had as a child was due to an infection that went to my brain. Once again it was under the umbrella of physical. I am not sure if that is helpful or not? Wendy
