i think so. google said 'A disorder characterized by sudden and uncontrollable, though often brief, attacks of deep sleep, sometimes accompanied by paralysis and hallucinations.' that is tonic clonic seizures (grand mals).

It is possible that seizures can be misdiagnosed. However, that is what happens to me when I have a seizure. Sometimes i blackout in mid-conversation, and then, when I come back, i pick up like nothing happend. Or I will just pass out. Unfortunately, these are considered seizures. Mild, but seizures non- the- less. I can feel them coming when i don't eat , or if I am under lots of stress. Sometimes, i get no warning at all.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i am mistaken. i have complex partials and tonic clonic seizures. and right before and during sleep i used to have attacks and sometime hallucinations with tonic clonics. i had surgery and the tonic clonic and the hallucinations went away. i wonder if i had narcolepsy or if my meds are to blame?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member that’s narcolepsy not epilepsy and definitely not a grandmal. I have both epilepsy and narcolepsy. I have grandmal a which are full body unconscious convulsions. Narcolepsy is sleep attacks, hallucinations, and sleep attacks. They do MLST tests to diagnose narcolepsy to see how fast you go into REM basically they do nap tests. But the wires they hook you up to can also detect seizures (I asked) so they can differentiate if epilepsy is causing the symptoms or if it is narcolepsy
