Changing From Trileptal To Keppra
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter 23 yrs old has been on trilpetal 3 yrs and now doctor wanted to change to keppra due to so many side-effects of trileptal she has have all the time. Dosage was 2x500 twice daily and now keppra is only 600 mg twice and she is changing it slowly. But Í don´t know if she should drive the car same time when changing medication? Even there is no symptoms? Her doctor didn´t say anything about driving, just said she can´t promise there won´t be any seizures. Well, of course not.

every med had side effects. i take keppra and phenobarb. keppra side effects are tire, dizzy, and mood swings (keppra rage). i think the rage is cause by destroying the liver so i take vitamin milk thistle. that vitamin restores the liver.
i google trileptal and got these side effects- dizzy, tired, vomiting, and tremors (shaking a lot).
i think drs didnt like the side effects so they switch it. and every med has a warning. keppra warning said do not use heavy equipment. so i would lay off the driving until you are comfy about the keppras side effects.

most drs are like that. only a few drs will respond with the side effects of this med or any med for that matter.
even a few meds are too many for me. every meds has side effects. some have a lot side effects for one med and some are not. i take vitamins to counteract the effects of med. i think keppra destroys the liver so i take vitamin milk thistle with helps the liver.

If it was me, I would err on the side of caution and try to stay away from driving as much as possible until I was completely switched over to the Keppra.
I know it can be a hassle but it's better than seizing while driving.

Thanks for your answers :) she asked her doctor about what she should do if she feels anny symptoms coming, but they didn´t give any answers only if there will be any symptoms etc. they will tell what to do. It is that neurologist thinks differently or is it this disease than for exemple rheumatologis for rheumatism?
I would like know what to do more meds or what, if there is any kind of feelings of symtoms coming. Because you can´t reach your doctor for exemple in evenings or weekends at all. Or am I just little bit hysteric? again.... by the way daughter is doing fine so far.
