Is It Normal To Be Tired Even Though I'm Not Having Seizures Now?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I get tired very easily and my meds are stable now and no seizures so I don't Really understand. I even want to start working full time again because when I have energy I have loads but it runs out quickly which is very frustrating. Like one days work means at least 1 days sleep

Definitely, look up the side effects of your medication. Several I am taking for seizures and high blood pressure has tiredness as a side effect.

I have the same problem, I'm on a very high dose of Keppra and it makes me very tired. I work 40+ hours a week and it wipes me out. I'm also on a second seizure med but because I have to work so much and don't get the rest I clearly need, I've still been having small seizures. I actually had a small one last night and it's so embarrassing when I have to wake my boyfriend up because we need to change the sheets and I need to wash up in the middle of the night. It's been very challenging. My advice to you is to either speak to your doctor about possibly changing your meds if that's a side effect of them or working part-time and go on disability. Idk what state you live in but in Massachusetts you can work up to 20 hours a week and still get a full disability check every month. When I was working part-time my meds were fine and I was stable. Very tired but able to work about 15-20 hours a week and I never had seizures. It wasn't until our rent was raised and I now have to work at least 40 hours a week. Sometimes I work 16 hour shifts. I know it's hard not to work and money can be a big issue but your health is much more important. I'm going to take my own advice and see if I can go down to either 30-35 hours and see if that helps. Seizure disorders are very hard to live with and are different for everyone. Please don't push yourself too hard. It's not worth it.

I have been taking meds for 20 years. I am always tired. Hold down a job but not sure if anyone really knows how much harder it is for us to push trough being tired and stay as productive as the next guy! if you are not having seizure, celebrate and be happy...being tired is something you can learn to live with.

Yes, I am tired and have not had a seizure in almost seven months. I think my one cup of coffee in the morning, my high blood pressure meds and the anti-seizure meds are giving me enough energy to clean my house and cook.

I am looking for a full time job but honestly I don't think I could work eight hours a day five days a week.

Yes it is definitely normal your body feels like it's totally drained. You definitely have to rest. It all depends on how long your seizures last. You have no control over your body while having the seizures and the type that you have
