Sleep Deprived EEG
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I will be having a sleep deprived EEG this week...anyone mind sharing their experience with this? I hear that most EEGs come back normal even with epilepsy? Thank you for sharing your experience, strength and hope with me.

if you stay in the hospital, you really cant sleep. the bed is small and the you have cords all over your brain.
my advice is do something that makes you stay awake. i cant sleep on certain chairs so i sit on those chairs. also i love video games so i will get hours of online or contle video games.
an eeg (or any electronic test) has a window. if you have a eeg, and it is normal, but when they remove the sticky stuff off you, you have a seizure. that didnt count on the eeg. i used to have seizures every day and when i get an eeg, my seizures were gone until the test was over.

Me too BryanMartin, my eeg i tore all the wires off my head due to a sezuire so they didnt get all the information. I woke up confused and tirerd. Bad sez. Also they had to put extra type of wrap imy head to make sure i would not tear all the wires off my head again, wow i forgot about that.

I have had a lot of eeg, mind sometimes show little sez activity. Some show large sez activity depends on how your brain wants to act. Always different

I had a sleep deprived one by accident a few weeks ago. I was staying in a very stressful environment and couldn't sleep much as a result. Of course it came back perfectly! Just make sure you look after yourself afterwards and get some rest, us epileptics need good sleep! I was really nervous about the EEG as for me they make me feel unsafe but this one was a really great experience. :)

Has anyone ever heard not to take medication that makes you sleepy before a EEG?
