I have lots of forms to fill in to receive benefits such as disabled parking from the council but they are long and complicated.

I had a head injury and if I have any problems filling in long forms I just ask the people that are there to ask. That is what they are there for and it's better getting the info. in correctly than having to go back and change things later!

I just found out the other week that the DWP have people who's job is tho come out and help you fill forms in for them. I rang welfare rights who got the lady to ring me or you could ask citizens advise to ring them, I find it annoying that its not till we have these awful forms in front of us and worry about it then its " oh DWP have people who will come and do it for you " especially if like me you can't go out on your own. Why are things like this not public knowledge, lady rang me very quick and came and filled it in for me, in less than half the time it would take me she also said it was all she did all day so they know how to word things properly, and if you have a deadline for getting it back this can be extended if they are helping. Thank you all, I am glad I am not alone. With regards benefit or any other government forms you have to be careful how you word your illness, for example a brain injury, brain illness and brain infection are all seen differently. The government sees a head injury as something you can recover from where as a brain injury is permanent.

Most of us have medical conditions that go along with our epilepsy. I have encephalitis which caused my epilepsy and most doctors don't know what it is. When I have been to see some GP's they have had to look it up in a medical encyclopedia.
