i have many things for devices. i have computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and many more. i use a fitbit health tracker to get my heart rate. my smartphone to track my seizures. and my tablet and laptop to get support groups (like this one).
a new good computer/laptop cost you $700 or more. a new good tablets cost around $300-$500 and a new good smartphone cost $100-$1,000 or more. i got most of it something percent off and/or used (when the newest ones just came out and the company needs more room). that or i got a company smartphone plan deal.
the smartphone has everything a laptop should be but waisted a lot of battery if you used it to much. a tablet has everything a laptop could be but it is hard to browse because its a app base not a internet base. then you have the laptop. that has everything but you have to buy the bells and whistles.
i would start with a used laptop with little to no items and a good memory and ram. or get a smartphone and you will add um to your plan (if you have one).
