I had been on Lamotrogine 100mg for 6 months, only side effect was insomnia. I was still having partial seizures.
I have been on 150mg of Lamotrogine now for the past 4 days and am suffering extreme headaches, nausea and falling into deep sleeps with crazy busy dreams and occasional jerks.
Not sure why the side effects have changed so drastically with such a small change in dosage (I have to try it for 2 weeks).
Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?
I’m on 200 2times a day. I def. get the insomnia. Once in a while some jerks, and strange dreams. With these meds a little increase can affect you alot until your body get’s used to it.
I am on 300mg lamotrigine 2X day, and I can say I still experience the imbalance, the deep sleep, the weird dreams (although I rarely remember them), vision problems and the difficulty with balance. It’s a trade off for me. I’ve been on it at this level for years, and it has so far helped to control my seizures. However, I am on the uppermost limit to the amount a person can take and not be toxic to my liver. I have options to add something else should a breakthrough occur (which is looking more and more like a possibility), but my doctor probably wouldn’t change the lamotrigine unless it becomes a problem, because it’s working thus far.
So my answer is that it is ultimately up to our bodies to know and tell us whether a drug is working to control the seizures or not. Any other issues ultimately take the back burner to that, because it is my seizures that kill the most brain cells the quickest right now. Of course, that could always change…
Yes. I take maxolt for migraines. The miracle med..
If I take any more than 175 bid I get horrible toxic effects - double vision, off balance (tho I feel that all the time). Very strange. The first time it happened I was driving to work and was afraid it was a new kind of seizure. Hate these f-ing meds. Now take a little clonazepam to go with it. Need to make a change.
I had a toxic reaction to lamotrigiine so am taking less, and adding in clonazepam to keep the lamotrigine dose down. I think I really need a new med.
