Today my doctor told me he plans to have another week EEG in a few months. It's difficult for me to have them during that time so do you suggest any triggers when you do an EEG? My triggers I know of right now are no medicine, lack of sleep, hungry, running and stress. The main trigger was always during my period but the past 2 months it's every two weeks. He really wants me to have a seizure that he suggested I call someone on the phone who upsets me. One of his patients called his mother in… read more
Talk to your Dr. Suggest the possiblity of having you drink a little bit of alcohol. If they aren’t reducing your meds down slowly during the weekly EEG, you may what to bring that up to you Dr. Also.
If you don’t want to go that route you may want to think of something that may trigger you to seizure fast. So if there is a food or drink maybe loud music you stay away from, that makes you seizure , go with that plan.
Ive never managed to do it on purpose. The first time we caught one on EEG i was doing a full day of telemetry, i felt the aura, the seizure started, I stood up unplugged my electrodes (saw this on video) my next recollection I was 2 buildings away in the smoking lounge with the electrode plug wrapped around my neck like a scarf ... Then a nurse yelled at me .. She said 'we finally caught one on tape and you walked away, you cant do that!' This is the time my Anger took over... 'do you think this is a fn party for me?? Do you think I had any control over that??? Look at that video again, when my eyes turn all white, Im no longer driving this ship!!!!' Omg I was angry!!
After that incident I was signed up for in hospital telemetry where your electrodes plug into the wall 24/7 I was plugged in for 5 days before the first awke seizure was recorded despite having 5-10 seizures a day in my regular life.
Im told thats not uncommon. Once you are in a safe medical environment your stress level is reduced and that alone makes seizures less likely.
My seizures originate from the hippocampus and amygdala... So to bring on a seizure I need to try to remember something, or get right pissed off or stressed out... But thats not a guarantee.
everyone is different. mine was food seizures. anywho if you have a 24 hour eeg and if you have a seizure without the meds, you will do fine.
I stopped meds completely the first day? and sleep deprivation for the first two nights... nope .. brain was not cooperating... normally if i'm a few hours late on a dose i pay for it a few days later...
I don't remember if I have had a seizure during EEG's, but after my 1st EEG I had a big seizure and the doctor did another EEG which definitely showed the damage
