Hello
Just wondering how anyone on Keppra or with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy has found being pregnant or what have you been advised? I have a very interested neurologist who last year told me I shouldn't have kids because it'll either damage me or the child will be severely disabled because of the medication! Have since done my own research and spoken to Doctors that have done studies and they had assuaged my fears for the the most part. Come my yearly review and nothing said by Neuro about… read more
Hi, I also suffer from JME. Been on Lamictal and Keppra for several years. The meds can cause your children to have developmental disabilities. I have a 5 year old and a 6 year old and both have speech delays. My first child has a harder time than my son. It's something that I never knew about before! If I had known, I would have never had my own kids! I love them so much regardless though. I just wish they were normal like their peers...
I have 2 children, both times my meds had to be changed while I was pregnant. It was Neurontin and Clobazam that they had to take me off of. I know take Keppra myself along with Dilantin. Within 3 mths of starting this combination my monthly lady time completely disappeared! I was 38 yrs old! According to my Neurologist that is the opposite of what usually happens with Keppra so I would listen to the Doctor!
I have 6 kids 2 of the mum where suffed very badly but they where fine does this help
I am on keppra and had my daughter in 2015. Dr's didn't really know if there would be side effects, just closely monitored. My seizures did increase and I did have complications but my daughter was born at 39 weeks, healthy weight 7lb 2oz. You just have to be totally aware and make sure you rest etc. Do what your body tells you. Good luck.
