Auras And Seizures, What If You Have Both? And The Doctor Tells You That You Seizures Are Stress Related And Not Neurological?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I am going for further testing Friday. But was told tests taken 15+ years ago were non neurological. However, at that time they put me on non-seizure medications. Like depoakote and dilantin then others until the last few years of Topomax because I get bad migraines. Has anyone else had this happen? Also when I heard music and voice they said I was schizophrenic. Which I was told later by other Drs that I was misdiagnosed.

CSISmith:
I can't look over my left shoulder~Sometimes I would begin to feel my head "pull up":
like I was beginning to have a stroke and I'd have to use my hand to get my head down
inbetween my knees for the seizure to stop.

Learned not to glance over my left shoulder real fast !
This was my aura~and if I didn't get my head down I could go into a full
blown seizure.

Have not had a GrandMal since 1986, thanks to Tegretol

i had auras for years and never remembered any of them. it was some sort of warning system... up to 2 mins in my case and id go randomly sit on the floor in the middle of a room or go near a person if i was alone...then have a grand mal seizure. i never remembered any of them. then i had a brain injury in 2016 and theyre gone.

As for your seizures...has your doctor brought up Psychogenic seizures or PNES??
(probably were called pseudo seizures originally) What medications are you taking now for your seizures? Do they have you working with a mental health professional as well?

Depakote and dilatin are heavy meds to put you for PNES but if that was years ago, i dont know what options there were. i remember being on trileptal 13 years back. heres the epilepsy foundation summary of pnes. Rememberthey are seizures just non epileptic ones (theres no mis firing on the brain/an eeg wouldn't show anything). The treatment is different than for an epileptic seizure. Below is a quick summary from the Epilepsy Foundation, hopefully that helps provide more information.
