Anyone Have Any Problems With Pregnancy While Having Epilepsy?

Being epileptic and Getting pregnant

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said:

I got pregnant unexpectedly while in epilum and lamictal. I stopped the epilum immediately. Thankfully everything has gone well, she is 10 now and no problems. I had frequent scans during my pregnancy. Good luck.

I would talk to your Dr. & Neurologist about getting pregnant especially on medication. I had no problem because I got pregnant on medication that had no problem to any children called Clobozam. I also had got pregnant right after my left temporal lobe surgery & was fine for 2 months. I went 5 years without seizures. There is a lot of meds. that can be dangerous for a child. Good luck

I had both of my kids while on medication for my seizures. I got very lucky with my pregnancy and the kids came out perfect. I did have to see a high risk gynecologist as well as my regular OBGYN. They would always take sonograms to make sure their brain was developing correctly. They always told me it's way more dangerous to have a seizure while pregnant rather than taking the medicine. I hope everything turns out well and good luck!
