Is It Hospital Time Even Though They Don't Know What's Going On?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a total of 4 seizures today and I think had one in my sleep because I just woke up with a swollen tongue and my metal tongue ring split in half. I can't keep having them in front of my baby girl. They also keep saying they don't know what's going on.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Have you seen an epileptologist, a neurologist who specializes in seizures? It seems to be making a difference for my son. Please remember that you are never alone in this struggle, and that things will get better! Much love xx

Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member . It’s not worth going to the hospital after having seizures more than once. If your seizures are stay active for 5 + minuets , then yes you need to be taken to the hospital.

You might want to talk to your Dr. About seizure recovery Meds. When I have more than two seizures in a day , I take my recovery meds. It help slow down to stopping my seizures in their tracks.

You might want to bring Meds like Ativan, Lorazepam and many other brands. The main use of these are for anxiety. But they work great at stopping seizures ( most of the time ) .

What are your doctors saying to you? And have you been put on meds & trying different types? To wake with your tongue bitten is terrible but also very dangerous! I have had a lot in my sleep and have broken bones. But have now been put on a sleeping tablet having hardly any in my sleep now is so good! You need to get professional advice. I wish you well🌸

Sounds like your going through a rough time 4 sczuures wow I'm surprised your still awake. The tiredness is draining. I say this all the time write everything down before you go to the doctor feelings included. Otherwise you will forget quickly what has happened

i say get a mouth guard and track your sleep. and when you go to the dr, tell them about your sleeping habits. if the dr cant finger your seizures out find another option. i hired and fired a lot of drs until the Cleveland clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. and i live in nw indiana.
