A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm on keppra, lamotrogine and topirimate and am waking up half way through the night and not getting back to sleep. Just wondered what pills anyone else took?

My brain is extremely active day and night. I'm always stressed out I sometimes don't sleep for over 48hrs. I don't get that tired drifting feeling which I would love to get. I'm on lamotrogine and vimpat. Was on keppra as well. I also have Suffered insomnia so I don't know if medications has anything to do with it . Magnesium ( I take) helps with sleeping so they tell me. I was on sleeping tablets for a long long time but it was a really, really bad move for me. I have also started listening to talkdown relaxation, meditation and hypnosis session on u tube ( free) specifically for sleep issues. (Getting to sleep and having deep and long sleep) I do find them extremely hard to focus on them but I'm trying. Works for some people. If anyone has any ideas for these issues please let me know

Hi LizellevdMerwe. Just like Bryan Martin said. They are a neurologist, but they work with patients that have epilepsy and many of the disorders that are related to Epilepsy. They even work with people who have brain tumors and schist.

Epileptologists have a wider spectrum of understanding of Epilepsy and are great at finding different paths to try. They don't just try different meds and EEGs now and then. They look at all the possibilities and treatments that I may be a candidate for.

Not everyone over here, is able to see a Epileptologist. It all depends on where we live. Anyone living in a large city has a better chance to see an Epileptologist, than someone who's is living in a small country town. There are many people over here , who live in those small towns and have no clue , what a Epileptologist is.

Kimmie CPAP is Continiual Positive Air Pressure. Its a machine that is specifically set for a person after sleep studies. You have a very tight fitting mask or nasal prongs Usually Sleep apnoea is the culprit. This is where you are asleep and stop breathing for periods there could be 80 of these apnoea events, which is the extreme, snoring can be a sign. People who have it can feel really tired and restless as they are not getting the optimum amount of air & oxygen all night or when ever sleeping once people get used to it they have said why didn't I get this along time ago. Most people I know said it's very suffocating at first or they don't ever get used to it I have been told many times to have the studies but I couldn't be bothered and there is no way that I would sleep wired up I can't sleep now.
