How to prepare for a inpatient video monitoring EEG. What to bing? I'm getting nervous lol.
I just did that last month for the first time; I had 14 seizures, so it was mostly just laying there in recovery the whole time. But I did bring Sixteen Candles and Dirty Dancing with me, and I'm sure glad I did. Be prepared to always have a nurse in the bathroom with you when you go... that was the most embarrassing part of it all for me. And yeah, button-down shirts for sure. Good luck! I hope it's an easy-going experience for you :-*
Be truly thankful if you have a seizure the hospital can record. I must've had over six video EEGs and had very few recorded seizures which is very frustrating.
Hi Theresa! No worries. It's painless but boring unless you bring stuff to do. You should of been instructed to wear an open-face (button-down) blouse. I always did this as I hate hospital gowns...LOL. Bring a laptop computer, tablet, smartphone, puzzles, etc. This way you can stay busy. You may be asked to do sleep deprivation, too which is when you stay awake all night long. They may also decrease your meds. You will be given an event-button to press each time you have a seizure which marks the eeg video sheet. (you won't see this.) Other than that just be patient. No pun intended!! Keep us posted and keep smiling. :)
Lots of books or other hobbies you enjoy! My total to date of day's spent in the hospital for telemetry is about 20. I would just buy new comfy pajamas before, and I had a lot of fun getting the address of a lot of my friends and writing them little letters from my bed that my parents would drop off to a mailbox after they visited me. It'll seem like forever but it's not too awful when you've got some good pastimes!
Bring some good snacks and good movies... bc the hospital doesn't always have great food .... a good pair of sweats or shorts is nice too
