Does Heat Increase Your Seizure Activity?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been following my daughters seizures. It seems she has more seizures when overheated or very hot.

Heat does increase seizure activity. People with seizures become dehydrated a lot faster than people without seizures. When it becomes hot it is especially important for us to stay hydrated and not to over exert ourselves because exhaustion also increases seizure activity.

It can thats why i always have a window open in the room im in till i leave to go else where. When sges going to bed have light blanket and if she still heats up then have childlock on window and open it a small bit when she is going to bed keep her cool at night. Then during the day keep her in cool areas.

Yeah...heat is one of my triggers. I really have it bad on balmy summer nights. I use a fan most nights to cool me down.
