Members shared a wide range of answers to what triggers their seizures or makes symptoms worse, with stress, lack of sleep, and missed medications being the most common themes by far. Several members also mentioned hormones and menstrual cycles, heat, flashing or fluorescent lights, illness, and dehydration as frequent culprits, with some noting that combining multiple triggers at once made seizures more likely. A recurring theme was the frustration of not always knowing the cause, alongside practical strategies like keeping symptom journals, maintaining sleep routines, practicing yoga, and staying cool in hot weather.

Stress, humidity are the main 1’s for me. My dr has told me that even starting a cold can do it. So I make sure I get my flu shot every year .

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member That sounds almost exactly like me. Just the stress of worrying about having a seizure and lack of sleep is enough to cause one.
