IBS And Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all

I read people with epilepsy are more prone to have IBS? Does anyone else have this problem?

It seems my epilepsy is the root of all my other health problems?

Paul, at this stage after 20 different types of meds and a surgery my epilepsy is under control but I have IBS and a leaky gut because of all the meds. And the problem with food, I know ham and lamb is a trigger. Gluten and lactose I'm allergic to so I avoid that but even if I avoid all the no-no's something still triggers it? Trial and error is a pain! Haha

I do know when i had partial complex seizures prior to the right Temporal Lobe Labectomy citrus food would trigger a partial complex seizure. When i was in for the testing for it and the seizures stopped my doctor sent me a crate of oranges. To this day i don't eat much in the way of Citrus.@Wendall
