I have seizure been experiencing Absence seizures 2006. I had the surgery on 4 May 2010. It was a major success. I was seizure free. I was still on meds because I had epilepsy in the back of my brain and the didn't want to operate there because I would lose some of my sight. I was on Epilim 400mg a day and Lamictan 300mg a day. In 2012 I started to experience terrible headaches. I started to drink Toplep 200mg. In June 2016 my doctor took me off Lamictan and in September 2016 he took my off Epi… read more

Seizure surgery is a treatment to help control seizures. Not a cure all. I had surgery on 8/9/10. I will be 6 yrs seizure free in June. I have a secondary neurological condition that caused my epilepsy. That condition can cause seizures. But I don't focus on it

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I am the youngest of 4. Even though, they all think I am stupid and know nothing. We, us seizure people go through a lot, and are forced to grow up faster. We just have to learn to accept life day by day, minute by minute. We are not, like normal people, who go crazy because they didn't get their hair done. I make sure my meds are filled, my Aunt is okay, the Animals are fed. We tend to have more empathy, than the average person. Since, I can't work I volunteer. You may think this is a little crazy, but in a way I see having this as a blessing from God. It has made my life hard in many ways, yes. If, I look at it from a different angle it has blessed me in many ways. Before, I moved, I was a Special Olympic Coach for 13 yrs and an Assistant Coach. Who knows if I would have went into that if I didn't have Epilepsy? So, that's the way I think. I love helping people because of the certain people that helped me when I was younger. If you ever need anybody to talk to, I am here. Haha! Same first name!

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member For the migraines I got the Daith piercings. They help me. I have had them for a year now. It take a while to help but they do work. I have had Epilepsy since I was 4 months old. Started with feberal. Then Grand mal. Stopped when I got the period. Then Bang. 1 yr after my meds back again. Grand mals maybe 2 to 5 a year the little ones Absense, Petite mal, complex partial, all I can say is a lot. Sometime, I can have them and act fine. So nobody can tell except the EEG. ironic huh? Now, through all this I am 36, I have had 2 major brain surgeries. In 97, I had a partial Left temporal lobectomy. With that I had a stroke. So, I had to relearn everything. Read, write, walk. and talk. I quit school and got my GED. My seizures did continue. In 2012, I had the rest of my left temporal lobe removed. With that one. I did have the chance of losing my eye sight. I went for it. instead, I lost the ability to listen to music or anything loud. It was like I had dog hearing. Until, I got the daith piercing. I can finally listen to music again. YAY! However, still seizing. Yet, I would rather it be me, then anyone else who who doesn't know how to handle it. After so long you kind of learn, when to lay down, or when to take a break. You know?

When I was in my 20's my doctor put me on Dilantin that had the worst effects on me. My gums swelled up and made my gums bleed. Then he put me on Phenobarbital. He was the best doctor in the world. He was like a dad to me. He passed away many years ago. I cant stand my neurologist now

I was still on Topamax ( Toplep). I wasn't off all the meds. After I went to see him in Oct 2016 and he did EEG tests again then he said I did out grow the epilepsy that they didn't want to operate on. So we all believed the Topamax would be enough and the surgery was a success? I was seizure free for so many years? But since Dec last year things have been down hill. Is it possible that stress can trigger seizures again even after the surgery? I dont know if its worth it to try the surgery again?

What type of seizures do you get @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member? On what meds where you on? Did they put you back on meds now?
