A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you doc has a diagnosis of Genralozed convulsion epilepsy without mention of intractable epilepsy (345.10) does that mean she thinks the meds are working?

Exactly, Patricia. And the Drs. don't seem to know what to do about intractable epilepsy. I've been on almost all the med you can mention and every year it's the same amount of seizures they just keep morphing into different forms. If the seizures slow down for you DQ9345.10 then the meds are probably working which would be wonderful. best to you

With interactable Epilepsy meds won't control your seizures ... They may tone your seizures down from a generalized seizure to many absent seizures a day (as I have and prefer lol because my full generalized seizures were a Grand mal/Tonic clonic and having 14 a week before surgery) hense the word interactable you have a form of epilepsy and the doctors are still trying to figure it out also - I am 33 dionosed at the age of 7 and doctors are still puzzled I am now dionosed "Interactable Epilepsy and Brain Injury" due to my surgery

If you don't understand your doctor, don't be afraid to ask questions! If they can't seem to speak plain English ask for a RN to translate. Yes, I've actually asked for one.

Just because Your Doctor doesn't mention "intractable Epilepsy", doesn't mean You don't have it. Usually even Your Meds can't control seizures, thus intractable......
