A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I've been trying to find a job, I miss working so much. I get offers from companies, but when I apply and the disability question comes up I have to check it I get disability and I don't know if it counts or something like that but should I just make a cover letter and put I do have a disability but I am a good hard reliable worker something like that describe me I don't want to keep filling out applications and feeling rejected from a box I check on an application. I do not tell people I have epilepsy until I am hired. I am not on disability so I have never had to check that box. For me I don't see it as a disability but my seizures are different. I feel like they aren't hiring because they might feel like you can't work the hours they need because you might lose the disability benefit. Have you tried applying for just a part time job?

I have applied for jobs, and you have to fill out a form. Usually, I check the box that says I do not wish to answer or disclose. It is an application. It is not a job offer.

My profile pic actually shows me having fun behind the bar where I work. I was upfront with my boss but it was a benefit to me that I have morning seizures so we managed to work around it. I can honestly say that in 4 years of working there is have never had a seizure there. I hope you can find something similar for yourself as it is a huge boost to get back out there. All the best. Xxx

I should probably have asked what type of career do you engage in?
