I seem to be unable to stay awake when I take this medication. Has anyone else had bad side effects?
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I'm glad the drowsiness is gone for you. I still fall asleep everywhere as well as have so many different types of seizures. I'm just glad that the grand mals have stopped. I am on 200mg of Lamotrigine, 750mg of Divalproex and 10mg of Clobazam. Still the seizures are happening. I have gone through Tegratol, Dialantin, Gabapentin and Valproic Acid as well with no luck. I can't wait to have the first part of surgery done so that they can locate the epilepsy.
My neurologist and epilologist are great. I had gone through three neurologists before I met one that is there to help me. As soon as he found out how bad the seizures was they admitted me into the epilepsy clinic. I was in Toronto Western for one month (they thought it would be two-three weeks) while they were able to follow my seizure patterns. I had over 8 grand mals which helped tremendously. After the doctors did the research I am a candidate for surgery. They have to put a graph on my brain and hopefully they will be able to find exactly where they are coming from. I guess he is to old to deal with Sick Kids. As soon as you find a good neurologist don't loose him. Best of luck. No child should have to go through any sort of illness.
My son Jon has had Petscan, Catscan, MRI. EEG. all since he was 2 and 1/2. Years old he is on Clobezam and Tegretol and Topomax along with an antidepressant Initially he was the TRIAL Guinea pig at HSC for FRISIUM and has been on it ever since. We are now at the stage where he will go into hospital for 2-3 weeks in Toronto to identify if he is a candidate for surgeryπ¬
We are very concerned but we have the best epitiologist this side of Ottawa. His name is Dr.M Bercovici at trillium Health Centre Sherway at near hwy #427 the best ππ»π€
Lamontragine seems to be the most beneficial. I still have the seizures but they are not as severe. I pace the floors less without any control to stop. It scares me because we have stairs with no way to block them off. I was told that the first surgery is exploratory. They are going to put a 10 cm. graph on the right side of my brain to locate exactly where they are coming from. If they are able to find it right away when they remove the graph the could possibly do the rest of the surgery right away. I can only hope. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
