Can Eating Some Food Cause A Seizure

Can eating overly spicy food cause seizures due to the stomach pain? Like a pain induced seizure.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said:

Yes it can. Because your stomach has neural tissues which is filled with neurotransmitters, it can triggers the nerve cells in your brain which can affect your nervous system. This then affects your appearance and actions resulting to a seizure. Stomach aches are usually my "warning sign" before a simple complex partial seizure may be ready to occur. You have to monitor the amount of spicy food you eat within a certain time period.
