Pregnancy And Meds?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all,

I had my first baby 6 months ago and was able to do it with no meds. Unfortunately I have had two grand mal/tonic clonic seizures since then while sleeping so now I'm taking Keppra and Lamictal. We want to have another baby sometime in the next year or two. Has anyone taken these meds while pregnant? My neurologist has said I need to be on meds for the rest of my life. :-( I'm worried about taking them while preggo...

Caligirl329, my daughter (you can find her under Samantha Walker) was on 5 medications when she became pregnant, was reduced to two during the pregnancy and my little 4-year old granddaughter is healthy, smart, beautiful and the pregnancy was normal. However, you would have to ask Sam directly what two medications they weaned it down to while she was pregnant.

I was on lamotrigine with my first and breastfed for 18 months but not seizure free have a happy healthy 3 year old now. I am 35 weeks pregnant with my second on keppra and seizures have been much more stable this time and all seems well with baby, planning to breastfeed on the keppra too but will keep my blog updated on how it goes www.becomingamumwithepilepsy.blogspot.co.uk

I had seizures before having children. I went on only one after the first trimester ( Dilantin) after that I never had another seizure
