Baby Development And Phenobarbiton?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter had developmental delays and I wonder if the phenobarb has a role to play in this. Important things including her vision are delayed from a development perspective - we've now changed to Keppra. Wondering if anyone has seen this with babies with epilepsy?

I was on that when I was younger and had alot of developmental problems but once I got off of it then I my speech came up to par. But they shouldnt be using that medication anymore. It causes alot of developmental problems

I was born with my epilepsy. I had developmental delays, and noticed that my speech has become choppy post op. The speech didn't happen immediately after surgery; it resulted from me stopping myself mid-sentence as a teenager and followed me into my adult life. I do wonder if this is neurological or mental? Any professional takes on this particular matter? #babydevelopmentphenobarbitol

Both those medications can cause delays and visual problems. I'm allergic to both. I have delays due to both.
