Marijuana And Seizures

Marijuana And Seizures

Marijuana can help seizures (not in huge amounts in a safe amount) at least I’ve heard I asked my own neurologist and she said it does but not in crazy amounts I personally smoke weed and I’ve found it does help (when it isn’t super bad) if you do yourself what’s your opinion if you don’t still drop your opinion in the comments

Is It Normal Practice?

Is It Normal Practice?

I'm just wondering has anyone been asked to show a doctor what happens when you have a seizure like act it out
I mean how do you act out a seizure 🤷‍♀️or is this common practice 🤔
My first neurologist appointment he asked him to show him what happens , the second one didn't but then when I was doing my eye test the optometrist asked me to show her what happens I told her I can't mimick the same actions as my seizures.
I just find it a bit insulting or am I just being way oversensitive on… read more

Did You Know That Epilepsy Is Classified As A Neurological Disorder Rather Than Mental Illness?

Did You Know That Epilepsy Is Classified As A Neurological Disorder Rather Than Mental Illness?

I certainly did not know this until a few minutes ago --when I was researching what international medical committee decides why the label of "mental illness" is used rather than "mental disability" for those that are not labeled as mental disorders (and I did not even know that the mental disorders were not listed as a sub-group of the overall group known as mental illness rather than being in a separate category.

Conscious Control Over Oncoming Episodes

Conscious Control Over Oncoming Episodes

I've only heard on one neurologist who was working on a study about some patient's ability to control oncoming seizures. Does anyone feel like they can sometimes consciously control and stop on oncoming seizure from happening when there is aura or some form of warning?

I ask out of curiosity because I swear by this personally. Last October, just over a year ago, when I learnt I have photosentivie seizures, I did it then and told the seizure 'no" out loud that really surprised me and showed on… read more

What Issues Are You Still Experiencing With Doctors, Pharmaceutical Industry And Medical Insurance To Get What You Need?

What Issues Are You Still Experiencing With Doctors, Pharmaceutical Industry And Medical Insurance To Get What You Need?

I and others who I have talked with still continue to have problems getting proper treatment, medications and safe sources for these medications and alternatives to anticonvulsants. How many of you are experiencing the same? And which of the above and which national and/or state/provincial government is the obstacle? Is this a problem in just the USA or in the other nations too? Thank you for your responses and if you are willing to contact your state/province/regional/national Epilepsy… read more

When Did You Find Out That You Had Your First Seizure Or At Least First Witnessed Seizure? What Brought About The Epilepsy Diagnosis?

When Did You Find Out That You Had Your First Seizure Or At Least First Witnessed Seizure? What Brought About The Epilepsy Diagnosis?

I ask this question because I just remembered the first time that I was told by someone that I had a Complex Partial Seizure. It was when working in Acushnet Rubber factory at some point in the first 5 months of the year (I worked for 8 months there before returning to college in the fall of 1997), and a coworker in that section of the factory had witnessed at least part of the complex partial seizure. Her husband has Epilepsy, thus she knew how to recognize a Complex Partial Seizure. After… read more
