just working a few hrs. It’s more so my legs and feet feeling this way more so than anything else. It’s been a little over 90 days since starting it. But most days any more I’m ready to get out of there before my first hrs has even passed. Never would I have thought I’d be in this position with this epilepsy condition. The days I’m off I want to do very little but most of the time I just want to stay in my pjs when I’m off
SueElf, None of the neurologist I’ve had over thee yrs have told me an max amount of work hrs I should be working. I started going to a neurologist when my neurosurgeon that operated on me originally when I was an infant plus two other times as a child he referred me to my first neurologist in 1981 . Just in the last year or so I’ve been noticing it more in the lower body of mine both of my legs was well being on my feet too. I never that they’d get this fatigued with me but they have now and I don’t have a clue on what to do about it.
I actually had a conversation with my epilepsy specialist on work hours. I asked his thoughts on how many hours he feels I should work weekly and he gave me a number I could work minimal and maximum. He then provided me in detail why it was suggested the maximum amount. In my case, the maximum number was suggested because of how quickly the aura activity can take place or even how quickly a seizure can come about. Our goal is to prevent them. His final comment to me was if ever I have an issue with keeping those hours to let the office be aware and he will be happy to have the senior RN that does much of the administration send documentation stating specific hours from his office to the employer.
I hope that information helps with your situation.
It is not easy to work and manage epilepsy. My previous job knew I had epilepsy because I had an accommodation filled out by my neurologist given to me from HR. With that I was given extra breaks if needed, work hours adjustment. Maybe you can look it that.
DarrylDaniel No epilepsy isn’t easy to live with . It’s even harder having to live with a second condition that’s actually the main condition that caused my epilepsy. It’s been that way for over 50 yrs now for me.
My dad, as a very young boy, made me work in tree work and cutting and splitting firewood till I got old enough to start a job. Then I worked until I was 61. In college I was told,”USE IT OR LOSE IT” concerning your body’s muscles including your brain, it’s a muscle too. If you limit yourself to doing nothing but sitting there watching t.v. or playing games all day every day your body will deteriorate.
Now I continue playing guitar and reading my Bible to exercise my brain. Living with epilepsy is not easy but if you strive to succeed you can. You can do all things through God who strengthens you.
