Members chimed in on whether fireworks trigger seizures, with many sharing that fireworks have never bothered them personally, though flashing lights in the dark can be a problem. Several members shared how they adapted their celebrations, including watching daytime fireworks to avoid bright flashes at night, while others chose to skip fireworks entirely to avoid the risk of waking up in the emergency room. A recurring theme was the importance of knowing your own limits, enjoying what you can safely, and leaning on community support and prayer for those who have had scary seizure experiences.

I enjoyed watching the fireworks with my family! Let’s all enjoy what we still can!

In 1976, I was a Teenager living on a 42 ft. Bristol trawler with My Parents in NY on the North Shore of Long Island Sound. We were at the Bicentennial Ships at the East River and New York Harbor!

We did ours in the daytime this year. Bright or flashing lights in the dark are awful for me. But we enjoyed them in the daylight just the same.
