When I was in high school shop class I had a seizure where I cut my arm and finger on a saw. I was rushed to the emergency room and got stitches put on both my arm and finger.

Members responded to a question about serious seizure-related emergencies with many personal stories of injuries and hospital visits caused by unexpected seizures. Several members shared frightening experiences including burns from hot liquids, broken bones from falls, car accidents, and cuts from machinery, showing just how dangerous everyday activities can be during a seizure. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of these events, not just for the members themselves but for their families and caregivers, along with a spirit of resilience and support for one another.

No, I have not had anything happen to me in that magnitude. The only thing that I have endured from my epilepsy is the after affects of the man made medication that gave me Neuropathy - which started some time in 2007 and constantly feeling it. But little by little it is getting better.

I am sorry to hear of all the different accidents that you have endured.

I’m sorry to hear you had an Intracranial Hemorrhage. I had one also when I was almost 2 years old, which is 1 of the 2 causes of my epilepsy. My face turned blue under my eyes from the blood building up.

Yes, It was my fist yoga class ever. Apparently, my brother never told me what to do or how to prep up for the class. It was a HOT power yoga !
Here's the funny part. im hearing the teacher say breath. I thought I was doing a good job etc. As I open my eyes, I am surrounded by paramedics telling me to breath. So I was told my lips were blue, stopped breathing and unconscious .
never went to the hospital but, that was the closest iv ever been.

My last seizure happened in January. I missed one dose of my topiramate and I had a seizure & never came out of it. I had my son stay up all night to take notes but I never said anything to write down. My husband said I was in the "pre-seizure" mode for a long time, so he called the ER & they told him to bring me in, but he was afraid that I might have another seizure in the car on the way, so they told him to call 911. So I took an ambulance ride to the hospital. I was having multiple personalities for days. I didn't know who anybody was completely out of it. Well, in & out. I had moments of clarity, but I was out more than in. My best friend came in & I didn't know who he was, that made him cry, but I closed my eyes for a few minutes & cleared up & said "Hi Eric." I was trying to fight the nurses, I was screaming curse words, I escaped the restraints, I was taking off my gown in the hallway, tripped on that & hit my face on the floor (had to get a CT scan & ended up with a HUGE black eye). I was in the hospital for 5 days. They kept me on topiramate & tried adding keppra that was NO GOOD. Took me off of that real quick. Then they added Lamotrigine & I also quit smoking marijuana & I haven't had a seizure since.
