apps are accurate. I have different type of seizures from time to time, but it would be awesome if I could find out which one of those apps are effective enough to detect seizures. i’ve had tonic clear nic as well as Grand Mal seizures over the years was just wondering if I knew what’s the most effective
Quinn I apologize for my harsh comment to you the other day. I hadn't read your profile at the time and didn't realize your health condition was more than just dealing with epilepsy. I was also born with a defect (heart) so this Epilespy hitting me at age 58 is still messing with me every day so I tend to lash out sometimes when I shouldn't. Have a good day if you can.
The only items that can detect seizures which I use are the Vagus Nerve Stimulator device and the Deep Brain Stimulator device which both have been installed by a neurosurgeon - VNS in 2008 and DBS in 2011. Both devices are specific as the brain is first mapped locating the area(s) where seizure activity is taking place then the neurosurgeon will perform his due diligence in placing the device whether it is the VNS or the DBS. After two weeks of healing, the settings will then begin and those settings are based upon every person's need and how they will react to the setting activity when it takes place.
In my case, we were able to do the VNS device without any trouble then move forward with the VNS device settings without difficulty. As for the DBS surgery in 2011, I went through a series of testing including longer mapping because of the seizure activity taking place. Because of how the DBS device works, my neurosurgeon moved slowly on locating the best settings to assist with my seizure activity as each setting could cause a reaction to the nerves. It took us a bit longer but well worth taking the time to get things correct with the DBS device settings as they will never need to be changed again.
SueElf, I’ve checked into both VNS as well as RNS. I read not long ago that the vns only detects certain types of seizures. I didn’t read that it detects the type that I have. But the rns does . Plus, I’ve been told RNS. makes you horse every once in a while, especially when it goes off. My voice stays horse now as it is.
If you have a apple watch the depending on what model it is you can use the default apple health app as it may have seizure detection built in. The only thing a lot of these apps are only made to detect Tonic clonic seizures and that's it. You can buy other devices for other seizures but currently there's nothing built into these watches that helps with other types of seizures unless it's a TC.
Sorry I can't help
