Many community members connected over the experience of having nocturnal seizures, with a large number sharing that their seizures happen primarily or exclusively during sleep. Several members described how they recognize a nighttime seizure on their own, especially those living alone, by noticing signs like muscle soreness, disorientation, a bitten tongue, wet bedding, or unusual fatigue upon waking. A recurring theme was finding ways to cope, from adjusting medication schedules to nighttime doses, relying on partners or pets for alerts, and leaning on the community for reassurance that nocturnal seizures are a common part of living with epilepsy.

I know I have them in the day and at night. Because I went to Mayo and had a video EEG and they said I had two at night. I live alone but they’re times when I have woke up and had to P so bad I wet the bed. There have been times when I was awake, after I had a seizure had had to P really really bad.
