I had a very strange experience last night and based on how I feel this morning I definitely know it wasn't just a dream. I remember briefly waking up last night to turn over and my right arm was shaking and I couldn't control it's movements. I fell back asleep straight away.
I've woken up this morning, with severe scarring in my mouth and everything is aching like mad. Particularly my back and shoulders.
Is it possible that it was a postical phase? Ive had postictal phases from sleep seizures and… read more
Thank you Becky. All my life I've done things in my sleep. Put a full face of makeup on, walked into the middle of the road, rearranged my bedroom, got ready for work.
I have tonic clonic seizures in my sleep anyway and I've been epileptic for 24 years. This is the first time I've woken up and experienced anything like this. I'm still not sure what actually happened. I am confident I was awake and I had a seizure based on my symptoms this morning.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , You might let your doctor know what happened. It sounds like you had a seizure in your sleep, normally known as nocturnal seizures. I have them & over the years they’ve gotten more odd than just having a seizure in my sleep. One time I woke up from a nap with a different pair of PJ pants on than what I laid down in with no memory of changing clothes. Then a year later I apparently had a seizure in my sleep with a loss of bladder & during that seizure I apparently walked to my bathroom & removed my feminine pad & went back to bed without any memory of it & when I woke up I went bathroom & was still tired & so I went back to bed but couldn’t go back to sleep & so I got up & when I went bathroom I saw my feminine pad was missing & I found it wet in my trash can with no memory of walking to the bathroom & removing it. When I didn’t have any insurance, my mouth guard had broken that my dentist had made & the over the counter ones were too big & I wear it because I have TMJ & normally wear a mouth guard when I sleep but it broke & when I didn’t have a guard, I had a seizure in my sleep & bit my bottom lip so bad that it was numb, it had bled & was swollen & it hurt so bad that I went to my Family doctor & all she could suggest was putting some ice on it for the swelling & then a couple days later I bit my tongue in my sleep & that hurt. This made me realize how much my mouth guard not only helps protect my mouth when I sleep due to me grinding my teeth when I sleep, but it also helps protect my mouth if I have a seizure in my sleep. After most of my seizures I can feel very tired & weak & must go sleep to recover. I’ve also woken up confused & feeling around on my bed & then snapped out of it. Prayers you feel better. Your friend in Texas, Becky
I’m glad that you are okay.
Let me ask it like this. How are ALL of you doing now?
I don't know. I wasn't even aware of having them in my sleep until it happened during my VEEG.
