Zonisamide effects everyone differently. And with weight loss, i had weight loss with it when i was taking it years ago also. It is a side effect of the medication along with nausea, diarrhea and headaches to name a few. For some people it takes 5 to 6 weeks for your system to adjust to the new medication. Keep a diary of how you're feeling before and after taking zonisamide so you can talk to your doctor about it.. The question is, is it helping to control your seizures? As far as weight loss, try to eat what keeps you healthy.

I'm not on it either, but my suggestion is not holding back on any questions directly to your Dr.
