If you were fully diagnosed with epilepsy (seizure disorder) and have a seizure when you stop taking your medication, yes. You have epilepsy.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member It makes me put my hand to my head. When it was explained to me how dangerous suddenly stopping my medication was, I was too scared to consider stopping my medications. And I would think that a rebound seizure like that would be worse than your regular seizures, but I don't know.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member You would be surprised at the amount of people that do this especially on the Facebook groups. I've read the same thing lots of times now people go a few years sometimes only 12 months or even less and they think there fine. Some do taper off and some don't even no to do it. They last all of a week and they have a seizure. The ones who Taper do better but it really comes down to how bad their condition is.
Why would you stop your medications? Just because you aren't having seizures doesn't mean you no longer have epilepsy or a seizure disorder; it means your medication is doing its job. You need to see your doctor and get back on your medications.
You already had Epilepsy / seizure disorder before you stopped taking your meds. The meds are what helped control your seizures.
