My epilepsy Dr doesn't have experience with autoimmune epilepsy and at his practice they don't ask the other drs for feedback so he referred me to another doctor at a different practice. I'm not 100% sold on him. His first meeting was like, I don't see why she wouldn't have it. The second meeting he wanted me to do the the new medicine. Their clinic spent a year with insurance trying to get approval - never did so the manufactor will cover the cost... of the medicine. There is so much… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Have you let your regular Neurologist know about your concerns with the trouble you’re having with this other Neurologist they recommended? You could let them know about your concerns & frustrations & ask if they possibly know of another doctor who could help you. I was in my late 20’s when my Pediatric Neurologist decided that I needed to start seeing an adult Neurologist & so we asked him for some recommendations & he gave me 3 names. I loved my Pediatric Neurologist & saw him for probably around 20 years or so. We didn’t like 2 on the list of Neurologist he gave me & so I did my own research & found my own. I like to go to www.Google.com & read about a doctor I might look into seeing & try to find reviews of that doctor. You could try looking up reviews on there of the Neurologist you’re not happy with. Good luck. Your friend in Texas, Becky

I would ask to speak with the practice manager. Have all your ducks in a row when you see them, so you can explain your concerns in a coherent manner. That is my problem, I just go in with no game plan run on about everything else.

I agree with @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, if you are seeing a neurologist and she/he are looking forward to using you as a lab rat by trying surgical treatments and the communication is poor, it's time to see an epileptologist for an opinion.

I know if I was still seeing someone for my epilepsy, it would be another epileptologist.

Sound to me the Dr. is fully Following thru with your test results.

You may want to look into finding a Good Epileptologist Kris5 . I have an Epileptologist at the MINCEP clinic, ran by the U of M . They have done great for me.
Give the Epilepsy Foundation of MN a call . They may be able to help you find a great Epileptologists for a Dr.
