Hey fellow Michigander! I'm over in St. Clair Shores. Yes, you can feel free to talk to folks in this forum, there are great people here. I can also vouch for the folks at https://epilepsymichigan.org/. There is a call center for support. If you browse their site, you can find worthwhile support events and virtual events available. I belong to a group, organized through HFH and the Epilepsy Society. We meet virtually once a month using Webex or Zoom and the session is moderated by a psychologist who works out of Henry Ford Main (my psychologist!) She has over 30 years of experience working with epilepsy and trauma patients and worked for the Epilepsy Society for years. The Epilepsy Society has proven to be a valuable resource, answering questions, providing accurate information and having a genuine interest in our psychological well-being. It's great actually seeing the faces and speaking directly with fellow warriors. Some of us often stay in the Webex meetings after the sessions officially end just to talk more. Some of us have even connected on FB to support each other whenever there's a need. I know the social interaction helps with my depression. I've been participating in these meetings for a couple of years. It took some prodding by my psychologist to get me to join, because my depression was bad, and I'd become introverted since diagnosis, but I'm glad I participated, and I'll be joining any future events as they're offered.
I agree with Melissa and her comment, it's a group site we're here to help each other out as we can and such, my opinion
