If its a big family related thing then there's a big chance they would find out anyway knowing what my mums like plus a lot of people would already know. If its just something where I know some people but a lot I don't then I probably wouldn't bother.

If I don’t know them I don’t tell them. Like Dave said: u don’t go around telling everyone u meet that u have epilepsy ( unless ur having seizures all the time and they’d find out anyway). I usually wait until I at least know the person and even then I don’t unless I know we are going to see a lot more of each other. I don’t tell anyone about it unless they need to know like employers or someone who is going to be around me for an extended period of time. I don’t walk up to strangers and say “I have epilepsy” - they’d probably think I was in need of seeing a psychiatrist or something as well.

Deciding when to disclose epilepsy to new people or family members is a very personal choice. Your approach of using intuition and deciding case-by-case is completely valid. When safety could be a concern, like during camping, it may be wise to inform people who will be spending extended time with you. Many people choose to bring up their epilepsy naturally in conversation, perhaps when taking medication or referencing a medical alert bracelet if worn. The key is sharing when you feel comfortable, while ensuring those around you would know how to help in case of emergency. It's encouraging that you've moved past feeling ashamed - that's a positive perspective that can make these conversations easier.

As long as there is someone there that knows me and about my seizures incase something happens. That's all I care about
