I have appointment with my neurologist next month. I am going to tell him about my menstrual. It was irregular my menstrual period would stay on for 6 months. I had to start taking birth control pills to regulate it.
Thank you Becky
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m 46 & have now officially gone a year without a cycle. My hot flash & night sweats were awful this year but in a few months ago I saw a Gynecologist for my hot flashes due to my Menopause & she gave me an Estradiol patch & I strongly recommend it because my Family doctor had given me the pill & after 2 weeks of it & the Progesterone, I stopped both because they were hurting my stomach. The Gynecologist said that others also get stomach aches from the Estradiol pill & so she gave me the Estradiol patch & again gave me the Progesterone & after a few weeks or so the pill & patch started helping so much & now I rarely have any problems with my hot flashes & night sweats. So if you haven’t seen a Gynecologist about this you might want to do that & get some medicine similar to this. Make sure to describe the issues you’re having & ask any questions. Good luck. Yes, hormones can still affect you after menopause. Even though your periods have stopped, you may still experience hormone fluctuations that could impact your epilepsy.
