SUDEP
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is it the actual seizure or is it the fact that you injure yourself into fatality that causes this to happen … can a non stop ongoing or cluster seizure actually end your life ? My son holds his breathe during his sometimes lasting up to 3/4 minutes

SUDEP is an actual seizure that someone just doesn’t wake up from. It could happen to anyone who has seizures. I’m sure you know SUDEP stands for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. It could be just 1 single seizure where someone dies with no other cause (no injury). I pray it never happens.

Epilepsy may extremely bad but can be significantly changed to easy-going. That is thru not just meds or surgery but also how you decide ĥandle it with showing you control life both psychological and physical Also that having Epilepsy can be life saving in some ways. Read my story then you'll understand why I say that!

Look at the stats for this SUDEP worldwide one of th lowest causes of death. Most are due to cases when just not being treated. Reason it's mentioned is to ensure people are. We have meds to control so seizures are brief + will never go out of control. Think of how person is after to ease mind bout seizures no matter how bad it may look at first.

I have tonic-clonic seizures. My husband says mine last around 3 minutes and my lips turn blue because I am not breathing.
