It's a little confusing that the doctor suggested 4 treatment options and the first and second one just got denied by my insurance. I know the next request will be 2 pills a day so will see how that request goes. At least this clinic is handling the request with my insurance company. The previous one, I had to do everything. Sure makes it not as stressful even though the have gotten denied so far.
Insurances are a pain in the ass
Even though doctors " prescribe" certain treatment(s), insurances will/ can deny them because of the cost of the medicine, test(s) ( E.E.G., M.R.I. ( Similar to a CT scan, except MRI's show a 3D image of the brain), etc... Even when doctor's send a Prior Approval, insurance companies may still deny the treatment ordered by doctor(s).
I'm surprised that YOU had to be involved with the insurance company at all. I hope that whatever treatment/medications you finally receive work well and that you have more peace of mind as a result.
My Dr. at one time put me on State insurance because my reg. Insurance did not cover simple things.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member They already tried appealing it for me too and the insurance denied that too. We'll see what happens...
