@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member There is lots of studies going on that are related to this at the moment. In very basic terms if you have epilepsy and have a child then the gene that is related to epilepsy is always carried across, the thing is though it's more likely that it is activated every second generation.

Point is the gene is always there it just won't always be activated.

I’ve always been afraid of that which is why I chose to not have children. I don’t want anyone going through what I go through. Whenever I see an epileptic you can almost tell. We have this sadness we carry with us and when people say how come you don’t smile well that’s the reason.

It can but it's more likely that skips a generation. So basically, the answer is its always possible but there's a higher chance that this doesn't happen.
