Can Someone Advice How To Treat My Condition To Help With My Memory Issues? Because It Is More Debilitating For Me Than Having Seizures..
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have left front temporal lobe focal epilepsy originating from the hippocampus and amygdala. It started in my teens, then in my 20’s it went away. And in my 30’s it came back but now accompanied with memory problems. I am not talking about confusion and memory problems right after an episode. i have that too. Mine is that my memory of experiences in life slowly fade over time. I usually cannot remember a restaurant I visited a couple of months after I was there. Or a person I met. My episodes… read more

I would write everything down so I can remember things. Some memory things that help me is trying fill in crosswords, search a word crosswords, sudoku to fill in numbers, reading self-help books, and do things to help out with memory techniques and tools.

There are a few things I learned to do. I have a small notebook that has each day date 📅 on the top of the page. Under that are a number of lines that have the time of day on one side of each page. So after one day ends I turn the page to see if something is written on the next page and what time that event is happening. Ex after one day is over I turn it to the next page and see if something is planned to happen that day, a Dr appt. at 2:00 pm. So I know what is going to happen the next day and prepare everything the night before.

Cell phone calendar reminders. Example, a Doc appt next month.
Phone beeps reminders before the appt. By 5 min, 1 hr, 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, 2 weeks. Also, as Julie10 said, Post its.
Keep positive as unfortunately the meds taken to help seizures decline, also declines memory.
I honestly was to add in something else to say, but forgot what it was.
