Is EEG The Wires On My Head Or On My Chest?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a hard time remembering and it might not be EEG. It is a 5 day 4 night test in the hospital to help with my seizures.

Thanks for all the helpful answers to my question. I think the main thing is staying in the hospital for 4nights and 5 days without my husband scares me the most. Thank you to whoever suggested ear phones. Let me know if they let you bring a tablet or phone to just listen to music. If not I have the big headphones also. I will bring books to read. I am scared to bring my phone in case someone steals it. I don't care about the tablet. It is just for games.

EEG is wires on the head. Been there, done that.
EKG is wires on the chest. Been there done that.
I’ve had open heart surgery and multiple brain surgeries.

Cheryl, they put most of the wires on your head, although I have had a few that included a single electrode on the side of my chest. Good luck, and don’t worry too much. 😊

It's an eeg and they will wire your head. Don't be afraid you won't feel a thing. Sometimes the glue will feel itchy. There are parts where they will have you sleep or talk or remember about 3 words.

Don’t worry about having an eeg, electrodes are just glued to Your scalp and wires from the electrodes are plugged into a larger machine behind you to record the results. The only thing You do is lie there have the electrodes glued to your scalp and just do what they tell You, nothing hard. I have had at least 5 of them. The worst part is getting the glue out of Your hair and off your scalp in the end. For some reason eeg’s never worked for me. The best test to have is the Depth Electrodes Test, that gave me some real answers, electrodes touching Your brain really tell where seizures are coming from. Best of luck to You.
